Ten Reasons to Move to East Tennessee

Updated: Jun 9

Roger and Emma moved to East Tennessee a couple of years ago. One of the main reasons they relocated here was taxes, much lower than the taxes they paid in the state where they lived before.

When they moved here, they fell in love of the area. They were surprised of the so many things that East TN has to offer. Below it´s a list of factors that make of East TN a wonderful place to live. I'll explain them in detail in future posts.

1. Mild weather: We have mild weather compared to other cities in the US with four distinct

seasons;

2. Ideal location: East Tennessee is located at the heart of the Eastern United States, at the junction

of two major interstate highways, I-40 and I-75. In addition, McGhee Tyson Airport, a premier

facility in the area, is located in East TN, 12 miles from downtown Knoxville. It offers flights to

26 different airports in the US, many of them major U.S. destinations;

3. Moderate cost of living;

4. Enjoy the beauty of East TN. Smoky Mountains frame the eastern border. In addition, we have

nine lakes in the region. If you want, you can travel by boat from Tennessee to the Gulf of

Mexico through different locks and canals that connect lakes and rivers;

5. Abundant recreational opportunities;

6. No taxes on personal income in Tennessee;

7. Reasonable property taxes;

8. University of Tennessee, founded in 1794, the largest university in the state, with over 31,000

students. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The in-state tuition is more than a half

lower than the out-of-state tuition;

9. A growing number of great restaurants;

10. If you’re looking for lifestyle, this is the place for you.
